David Jordan has served as President & CEO of Seven Hills
Foundation since July 1995. As President, he is responsible for
the overall management of all Seven Hills Foundation
rehabilitation programs, which include over 140 locations
throughout Massachusetts. Seven Hills Foundation and its operating
affiliates employ over 1,900 professional staff with an operating
budget over $115 million.
Dr. Jordan has over 30 years experience in rehabilitation,
education, and health care management. He holds a Bachelor of
Science Degree in Business Administration from the University of
Rhode Island; a Master of Arts Degree in Special Education from
Salve Regina University, Newport, RI; a Masters of Public
Administration from Clark University in Worcester, MA; and
received his Doctorate in Health Administration (DHA) from the
Medical University of South Carolina, Charleston, SC. He has
completed executive seminar coursework at the Harvard Graduate
School of Business and the Harvard School of Public Health on
topics including social entrepreneurship, healthcare disparity and
policy, and nonprofit leadership. His doctoral research involved
the study of an emergent leadership theory termed “transcending
leadership”.
Since 2003, he has served as an Adjunct Professor at Clark
University (Worcester, MA) in both the Graduate School of
Management (GSOM) and the College of Professional and Continuing
Education (COPACE). His teaching has focused on Social
Entrepreneurship; Strategic Management; Public Policy &
Administration; and Strategic Marketing. Clark University named
him as their “Social Entrepreneur-In-Residence” in 2007. He is an
adjunct Associate Professor in the doctoral program within the
College of Health Professions at the Medical University of South
Carolina where he lectures on healthcare systems change. Dr.
Jordan’s current research interests include social
entrepreneurship, social enterprise, and leadership
theory/application. He is a member of various national trade
organizations including the American College of Healthcare
Executives, and was elected (2006) as a
delegate
from Massachusetts to the National Nonprofit Congress. Dr. Jordan
is
on the
Board of Corporators of the Greater Worcester Charitable
Foundation.
He is
a
member of the Board of Directors of the Massachusetts Council of
Human Service Providers, the largest trade organization of health
and human service organizations in Massachusetts, where he serves
on the Executive Committee. He is also on the Board of Directors
of the Mental Health Corporation of America. Dr. Jordan was
appointed to Massachusetts’s Governor Mitt Romney’s Transition
Team (2002) to serve on the Health Committee representing the
health and human services sector.
Dr. Jordan was honored by the Worcester Business
Journal in 2002 as their first-ever Business Leader of the
Year – Nonprofit category and again in both 2005, 2006, and
2008 when the Worcester Business Journal ranked Seven Hills
Foundation as the fastest growing nonprofit organization in
Central Massachusetts. In 2007 he was named by the Worcester
Business Journal as one of the ‘Top 15 Entrepreneurs’ in
Central Massachusetts; the only nonprofit leader so recognized.
